People On Bikes

Orlando’s summer of sharrows

Look out, City Beautiful, Orlando’s working towards a new moniker – the City Bikeable. Earlier this year, we shared an Orlando Sentinel story about the City of Orlando installing 50 new bike sharrows – markings in the road that tell drivers that they must share the road with people biking. . The city is hard at work getting these markings on roadways with its most recent additions in the past few weeks –on South Magnolia Avenue and Central Blvd.

These large, white road paintings increase visibility for people biking by making drivers more alert to their presence. A huge thank you to our partners at the City of Orlando for keeping this project rolling. Together, we are slowly changing Orlando’s car-central culture to include other road users.
