The Orlando Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office hit the streets this past Thursday, September 1st, for their 15th round of Operation Best Foot Forward. This high-visibility crosswalk enforcement operation has resulted in 6,514 traffic stops since 2012, with 157 of those stops happening during this round of Operation BFF.
Every person stopped is reminded that drivers must yield to people walking while driving through marked crosswalks. And, thanks to our great local media outlets, we are able to extend that reach to hundreds of thousands of people – all hearing the message that we need to pay more attention to people walking.
BFF wants to give a huge shout out and “Thank you!” to all of the stations and publications that covered our Operation Best Foot Forward crosswalk enforcement. Those stations/outlets include WKMG, FOX 35, WESH, WFTV, Orlando Sentinel, West Orlando News, Orlando Weekly, WDBO, and not-so-local outlets Sun Sentinel and WFLX FOX 29. Thank you for helping us make PEDS a priority. We couldn’t do it without you.
We’d also like to thank our partners at the Orlando Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for all of their hard work. Your support is a must as we continue to push for safer streets here in Central Florida. Thanks for all that you do!
