Wait. Didn’t we just celebrate Bike Month? Yes and no. Two months ago, in March, we celebrated Florida Bike Month here in the Sunshine State. But now it’s time to celebrate all across the U.S. with National Bike Month – hosted by the League of American Bicyclists.
Throughout the month of May, there will be local and national events to celebrate bicycling including “National Bike to Work Week” and “Bike to Work Day”, and we hope you will join.
- Bike to a date, the neighborhood BBQ, bingo night, school, the farmer’s market, the bank, the bus stop, a SunRail station, etc.
- Show your kids the world of bicycling by participating in Bike to School Day on May 8.
- And definitely bike to work with the rest of Orlando on May 17.
- Central Florida is known for its extensive trail network, so take advantage of the beautiful weather and explore the many trails.
- Maybe even bike across the entire region of Central Florida using the route from Bike 5 Cities for the most bikeable route.
Don’t have a bike? No problem. Orlando is full of bike-share options that can help such as Lime and HOPR!
Be sure to download the Bike Month BINGO sheet and challenge your friends to see who can complete “BINGO” first! Regardless of how you decide to celebrate, just get outside and hop on your bicycle and celebrate!
This year’s National Bike Month theme: What’s your reason to ride?
Do you ride for exercise? Do you ride for cleaner air? Do you ride for the wind on your face? There’s so many reasons to ride and we want to hear your “why”! This month, be sure to engage with us on social media using the hashtags #WhyIRIde and #BikeMonth along with your usual hashtag, #iBikeWalkCFL!
