FDOT Project Open House – South Orange Avenue (S.R. 527) Safety Improvements

February 19 @ 5:30 pm 7:00 pm

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites the community to an open house to discuss proposed pedestrian safety improvements on South Orange Avenue (State Road 527) north of Butler Drive at Cortland on Orange Apartments.

This project aims to enhance pedestrian safety by constructing a pedestrian-activated midblock crossing with a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB). The open house provides an opportunity for residents, business owners, and community members to view project plans, speak with FDOT team members, and provide feedback.

Attendees can participate in several ways:

  • In-Person Open House: Visit anytime between 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Unity of Central Florida Church to view a looping presentation, explore project displays, ask questions, and submit feedback.
  • Live Webinar: Join an online webinar at 5:30 p.m. to watch the project presentation and submit written questions or comments. Register in advance at https://fdot.cc/S-Orange_Ave_Safety. Please allow time to log in before the presentation begins.
  • Project Website: Visit the project website at www.cflroads.com/project/992400-4 anytime starting February 19 to watch the presentation, review exhibits, and submit feedback. While materials will remain available, comments submitted by Monday, March 3, 2025, will be included in the official open house record.

FDOT welcomes feedback from nearby property owners, business owners, community organizations, and the general public to ensure the best outcomes for this safety improvement project.
