Need Ride Leaders By Sept. 15

We Want You! To Be A Ride Leader

Bike/Walk Central Florida is seeking Experience Cyclists who want to share their love of bicycling!

Bike Walk Central Florida (BWCF) is planning its 4th Annual Bike 5 Cities Ride, Saturday, October 3, with a new twist to accommodate our new world, and we need experienced cyclist volunteers. Due to COVID-19, small groups of five riders or less will head out with a volunteer Ride Leader to escort them along the bike-friendly route. Small groups will leave from the host city location of their choice in 15 minute increments and roll at their own pace from city to city.

As an experienced cyclist, you can share your enthusiasm and knowledge with newer riders by volunteering as a Ride Leader/Escort. You’ll encourage others who want to ride but don’t know where to find bike-friendly roads or don’t feel comfortable going alone. PLEASE LET US KNOW BY AUGUST 28, IF YOU CAN HELP! Organizers need to know how many people we can safely register.

Interested? Have questions or aren’t quite sure if this is for you? Lisa Portelli, Bike 5 Cities ride director, is happy to answer any questions.

Practice ride Wednesdays for Ride Leaders

Beginning in August, Lisa will do “practice” rides on Wednesday evenings so Ride Leaders can preview the course at least once or more if preferred. Or if  Wednesdays don’t work for you, we are happy to arrange another time. BWCF will mark the 28-mile route with directional signs before October 3 and provide a Ride with GPS link to make it easier for all. Contact Lisa Portelli for more details. [email protected]

Can you roll with us?

Please let us know if you are willing and able to help encourage newer riders. Time slots for ride starts on October 3 are every 15 minutes from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. in all five cities – listed below. Please let Lisa know your time preference too. Each City will have a rest stop with refreshments from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Anticipate the ride taking up to 3.5 hours including stops.
