For over 14 years, Bike/Walk Central Florida (BWCF) has been on a mission to transform Central Florida into a premier walkable, bikeable, and rollable community. We are the go-to resource and apex of the largest local network of urban planners and developers, educators, engineering firms, and advocacy groups, with deep expertise in making real impact towards safer streets and roadways for all.
The Wheel of Achievement Awards recognizes exemplary projects and advocacy efforts that truly go beyond the minimum and have demonstrated real impact in support of those who walk, bike, and roll throughout our communities.
AWARD CATEGORIES
Categories and winners are determined by the BWCF Technical Advisory Committee, a collective of experienced and knowledgeable individuals who provide valuable guidance and insight into the planning, design, and implementation of active transportation infrastructure.
Bike/Walk Central Florida Special Achievement Award
Outstanding Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety Project or Effort: Small-Scale
Outstanding Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety Project or Effort: Large-Scale
Outstanding Bike/Ped Advocacy: Organization
Outstanding Bike/Ped Advocacy: Champion
Emphasis is placed on impact within the following BWCF Key Priorities:
- Policy: Advocacy, education, and support of policies reducing serious and fatal bicycle and pedestrian collisions.
- Perception: Normalizing walking, biking, and rolling and fostering a culture of courtesy amongst road users.
- Practice: Encouraging people of all ages and abilities to walk, bike, and roll.
- Sustainability: Long-term program sustainability to ensure lasting positive impacts for the community.
