Which community has the most sole? Winter Park, Maitland, or Eatonville? The three mayors asked and received their answer at Healthy Central Florida’s Third Annual Mayors’ Sole Challenge. The winner? Eatonville! They took the top spot because they had the highest percentage of people (based on population) in attendance. The prize – a gold shoe trophy and a $2,500 check to be used for parks/recreation or other healthy activities.
Even though Eatonville won — all 500+ walkers were winners, braving the cold to walk their way through Winter Park. Some even “dance-walked” joining Bo Outlaw of the Orlando Magic, Florida Hospital, Winter Park Health Foundation, City of Winter Park..and the list goes on…If you missed out, it’s not late to join the Walk90 Challenge. It’s free and offers GREAT prizes, including a free one-year membership to the RDV Sportsplex.
In the event’s first school challenge, Hungerford Prep in Eatonville took home first place with the most number of students attending and won $1,000 for healthy activities at their school. Lake Sybelia and Dommerich Elementary in Maitland tied for second place and each school received $375.
