Crosswalk infrastructure makes a difference. We can prove it. When Best Foot Forward launched in 2012, only 19 percent of drivers yielded to pedestrians in the marked crosswalk at the Lake Underhill Trail.
Thanks to targeted education, high-visibility enforcement operations, and state of the art engineering enhancements by the City of Orlando, now that number is closer to 55 percent after a new textured crosswalk and advanced yield for pedestrians signs and stop bars were installed. Thank you, City of Orlando, for investing in this area and providing better access to the Lake Underhill Trail. Crosswalk infrastructure does make a difference.
