Bike Helmet Resource Page

Under Florida law, a bicycle rider or passenger who is under 16 years of age must wear a bicycle helmet properly fitted, fastened securely upon the passenger’s head by a strap and that meets the federal safety standard for bicycle helmets, as defined by the Code of Federal Regulations (16 C.F.R. Part 1203).

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is hosting Mobility Week, the week of October 28-November 3, 2017.  Orange County Government and LakeXpress in Lake County will be offering Bike Helmet training classes. If you are interested, we strongly encourage you to reach out to them directly and sign up because spaces are limited. The Florida Pedestrian/Bicycling Safety Resource Center promotes safe pedestrian and bicycling activities for citizens and visitors, young and old, by providing educational materials and information to advocate groups in the state.

They offer a list Bike Helmet Regional Trainers who offer certification classes locally. All you need to do is call or email them directly to inquire about the next Bike Helmet class in your area. Or, you can email the PedBike resource center directly [email protected] for assistance.
