Since the passing of new bike regulations in November, Orlando welcomed its’ premier “dockless” bike experience. Lime’s Electric-Assist bike fleet is the first on the scene, hoping to offer a sweat-free ride with the help of a little pedal power. In contrast to the orange Juice bikes, Lime E-Assist bikes give the rider the freedom to park in “any bike spot” instead of at a traditional rack.
According to Billy Hattaway, the Transportation Director for the City of Orlando, Orlando’s fleet of Lime E-Assist bikes had over 10,000 rides in just over two months. “So there’s clearly a large demand. We’re getting about 400 rides a day, with about 300 miles a day on those 400 rides.”
Many locals know the parking in Downtown Orlando is not great, the Lime E-Assist bikes offer easier access to those enjoying restaurants, shops and events in the area. Check out this article from Spectrum News 13 for more about how Lime E-Assist bikes are impacting Orlando.
