What began in 1997 as a one-day event in Chicago, International Walk to School Day has grown into a movement for year-round safety when it comes to kids and their routes to school.
With participants in over 40 countries and all 50 states, Walk to School Day celebrates the many benefits of walking to school which include overall health, increased concentration in class and better performance in schoolwork. Even better, this annual event is a fun way to build community between families, schools and neighborhoods.
Even better than that? OCPS BFF partner has raised the bar for next year with the goal of doubling participation throughout the school district. To sign up, get more info, or just see who is walking, click here.
