MetroPlan Orlando (MPO) is powered by passionate people. Among the staff, collaborative board, committee members and transportation partners, there is no shortage of talent. The team at MPO makes transportation decisions that positively affect health, physical activity and improved quality of life for all residents of the greater Orlando area.
A strong and diverse regional transportation system is the goal. That means thinking outside of the car, and great strides have been made to increase those options this year. SunRail expanded into Osceola by adding four new stations, while LYNX made several technology upgrades for its riders.
MPO’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Action Plan is incorporating the use of crash typing software programs to improve walking and bicycle safety. Crash typing is a tremendous tool for planners and engineers; it utilizes a database containing multiple details associated with the crashes between motor vehicles and pedestrians or bicyclists.
As founders of the Best Foot Forward (BFF), MetroPlan Orlando is committed to improving pedestrian safety. This annual report notes that Bike/Walk Central Florida (BWCF) is finishing up its first year of enforcement operations in Osceola County, with Seminole County next in line to adopt the BFF program. BWCF is so grateful for all of their support!
