More than 100 community leaders and representatives of all Metro Orlando media outlets took time from their busy schedules to spend an hour with us May 30, at Orlando Health, as we pledged to cut pedestrian deaths and injuries in half over the next five years.
Our own Linda Chapin summarized the problem, saying: “We seem to have gotten out of the habit of looking out for each other.”
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer declared May 30th “Best Foot Forward for Pedestrian Safety Day.” And all major media outlets covered the event.
Of course, a launch is just the beginning – permission to work even harder. And we will. This is a big, complex issue and we will not rest until we have made a difference.
