From our friends at Orange County Parks & Recreation … Virtual Public Meeting, January 27 at 6 p.m. regarding West Orange Trail Extension and Rock Springs Road Studies
From October 2020 to September 2021, 1.7 million people walked, ran or rolled on Orange County Parks and Recreation‘s West Orange Trail; the previous year saw 1.17 million visitors to the trail.
In partnership with Orange County and the City of Apopka, MetroPlan Orlando is exploring potential extensions to the trail. Take time to evaluate preliminary alternatives for extending the West Orange Trail by attending the virtual public meeting on Thursday, January 27 at 6 p.m.; click here to register for the event. A live overview presentation with graphics showing the proposed options starts at 6 p.m., followed by a virtual Q&A segment.
A recording of the live presentation, the graphics of the proposed alternatives, an overview handout, and a survey about the proposals will be available on the project website after the meeting. You can also sign up there to receive updates about the project.
The West Orange Trail Extension Study is exploring connections to the Seminole County Wekiva River Blueway Trail, Wolf Lake Elementary and Middle schools, the City of Apopka’s Northwest Recreation Complex, and the proposed Wekiva Trail. Also, a concurrent study is focusing on how to improve transportation near Rock Springs Road and Welch Road.
