The River to Sea Transportation Planning Organization (R2CTPO) coordinates transportation planning efforts between local governments, planning organizations, the business community and service agencies. Our office is located in beautiful Daytona Beach, Florida within a short distance of numerous world famous attractions, including the “World’s Most Famous Beach” and the Daytona International Speedway. The area we serve includes Volusia County and the eastern portion of Flagler County. Our residents represent various ethnicities, abilities and age groups; our communities include rural farm towns and growing cities; and the natural environment includes some of the most beautiful waterways and interesting wildlife known to the state.
The R2CTPO is currently seeking a qualified planning professional to provide bicycle and pedestrian program management, transportation planning and project support for the metropolitan planning area (MPA). The successful candidate will join a stable and progressive organization with a highly successful and award winning bicycle and pedestrian program.
The Transportation Planner – Bicycle & Pedestrian Coordinator is responsible for performing transportation planning activities, conducting research, writing and implementing grants and providing program oversight for bicycle and pedestrian planning activities. This position acts as the primary liaison with local governments and community stakeholders, represents the agency at various meetings, provides technical support and engages in public outreach as needed to seek input on transportation plans and studies. Additional activities include conducting safety awareness programs, bicycle helmet fittings and other efforts that support improved safety throughout the MPA. Applicants must be adept at building strong professional relationships, have a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage projects from concept to completion.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance or a related field with a Master’s degree preferred and at least two-years of experience working in, or with, an MPO/TPO, transit agency or transportation-related organization. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Salary: $38,500 – $60,500 DOQ, plus benefits
