Did you know a school bus weighs about 23,000 pounds. The size and weight of school buses can make it difficult for bus operators to see pedestrians and stop quickly for them. And that’s why 1,300Orange County Public School bus drivers got a refresher course on pedestrian safety just in time for the start of school.
BFF met with bus operators and monitors during the school’s fall training conference on Aug. 17 and talked about invisible crosswalks, pedestrians crossing midblock, and Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB).
