Wheel of Achievement Awards Event

Recognizing exemplary efforts that truly move the needle in support of those who walk, bike, and/or roll throughout our communities.

At the Center For Health and Wellbeing

Since 2010, Bike/Walk Central Florida (BWCF) has worked toward our mission of educating and advocating to make communities more walkable, bikeable, and rollable. Pursuing our mission has afforded BWCF the opportunity to witness and participate in incredible public, institutional, and private efforts within policy, perception, and practice.   

During our 2023 Inaugural Wheel of Achievement Awards, we will recognize exemplary efforts that go beyond the minimum and truly move the needle in support of those who walk, bike, and/or roll throughout our communities by presenting the following awards:

Outstanding Bike/Ped Safety Project or Effort Award: Intersections and single-point projects or efforts

For projects or efforts providing significant positive impact(s) to safety for all users of the bicycle and pedestrian network.

Outstanding Bike/Ped Safety Project or Effort Award: Infrastructure projects or efforts less than 1-mile

For projects or efforts providing significant positive impact(s) to safety for all users of the bicycle and pedestrian network.

Outstanding Bike/Ped Advocacy Award (Organization or Champion

For advocacy and education efforts put forth by an individual community member or individual working within a government agency or private organization. 

Emphasis is placed on impact within the following BWCF Key Priorities:

  • Policy: Advocacy, education, and support of policies leading to reduction of serious and fatal bicycle and pedestrian collisions. 
  • Perception: Normalizing walking, biking, and rolling and fostering a culture of courtesy amongst road users. 
  • Practice: Encouraging people of all ages and abilities to walk, bike, and roll. 
  • Sustainability: Long-term program sustainability to ensure lasting positive impacts for the community.

Meet Our Keynote Speaker: Dr. Kelly Brock

Public Works & Utilities Department Director

City of Casselberry, FL

Kelly Brock is a servant leader and complete streets changemaker who has played a critical role in transforming the City of Casselberry into an area that prioritizes sidewalks, bike lanes, and public spaces by advocating for safer street design and better policy. Dr. Brock has worked as a city engineer for over 15 years and has overseen the completion of several complete streets projects, with many more in the works. He was instrumental in the development of the city’s healthy community complete streets policy and multi-modal transportation master plan. Which recently set a goal of becoming Central Florida’s most walkable, bikeable, and rollable city by 2040.

He also works to improve his community beyond Casselberry’s boundaries by serving on the Board of Directors of Bike Walk Central Florida, an Orlando-based bicyclist and pedestrian advocacy group focused on enhancing crosswalk safety and accessibility.
