On October 29, 2023, the Best Foot Forward for Pedestrian Safety team was invited by the city of St. Cloud to participate in their Bikes and Bites family bike event. The event involved riders visiting local downtown restaurants, with officials and police officers from the St. Cloud Police department leading the way along the route from Lakefront Marina Park through downtown St. Cloud.
During the event, the Best Foot Forward team provided free helmets and certified helmet fittings to riders, along with helpful Downtown Orlando bike maps and biking pocket guides. Along the route, riders had the opportunity to stop at participating businesses and sample food and drink items. The participating businesses were:
- Phyre Brewery & Tavern
- Pops Waffles & Ice Cream Shoppe
- Phyre Gen X Pizza & Brewery
- Crabby Bills
It was a great day to be out in the community! We enjoyed talking to riders about the benefits of biking and answering their questions about bike safety. We also had a lot of fun fitting helmets on riders of all ages and seeing their excitement about riding their bikes.
We were joined by FDOT’s reThink Your Commute, which promotes smart transportation solutions for Central Florida’s workforce, as well as Mobility Week, which promotes awareness of safe, multimodal transportation choices.
We would like to thank the city of St. Cloud for inviting us to participate in this event. We hope to see you at the next Bikes and Bites ride!
