New Winter Garden Wheel Works Sunday Ride

Winter Garden Wheel Works (101 West Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787). All rides are organized by and leave from the shop – http://www.wgwheelworks.com/. Contact them at 407 654 1496 or [email protected]!

Saturday ride (Shop ride)
Departs 7:00 a.m.  40-60 miles, B pace avg. 17-19 mph.  The ride will leave the shop and head west to the Lake County roads over some hills and back. Make sure you know your way in case you’re dropped from your group.   This is a good ride for experienced cyclists and riders looking to advance.
Saturday ride (Steve’s ride) (spandex not required)
Departs at 8:00 a.m., very casual ride five (5) miles out and five (5) miles back.  A great ride for those that are getting into or back into riding.  Come ride with Steve and the gang.
 NEW! Sunday ride (Robert’s ride)

Departs at 7:00 a.m. 40-60 miles, C pace avg 15-17 mph in challenging terrain.  NO DROP!  Great for a recovery ride or for those that like a slower pace but with some hills.

 TT/Tri Tuesday
Departs 7:00 a.m., 30-40 miles. You don’t have to have a TT or Tri bike – the idea is for each person to go at their hardest individual riding pace.  We ride as a group for the first 10-15 miles to warm-up and then we do individual (TT/Tri) ride for 5-10 miles. Regroup after each TT, recover, then do it again.  Regroup and ride back to the shop. This would be a good time for triathletes to bring their shoes and do a brick.

Ice Cream Socials: night rides through Downtown Orlando

Unless specifically designated as a trail ride, our rides take place on public streets. Headlights and red rear flashers are required for night rides. Helmets are encouraged, and are required for children under 16.

We observe all traffic laws and traffic signals.

Our rides are typically 10 to 15 miles, roundtrip, and average 10 miles an hour, a comfortable pace for most adults and teens. May be too fast for younger children and adults with health issues.

These rides are social in nature.

For longer, more aggressive group rides, subscribe to Hal Downing’s group ride newsletter by emailing [email protected] .

If you prefer a slow ride bike group, try the Backpack Bikers, on Saturdays at 11 am outside by the bike rack at the 24-hour fitness club by Super Target near the corner of Orange Avenue and Michgan Street in the Crystal Lake Subdivision.  Contact Cynthia Morrison at [email protected] .

If you have a social ride you would like us to help promote, please email me at the address below.
