March 4
Florida Active Kids Summit Panel Discussion
Hosted by Florida Hospital
Amanda Day, BWCF’s Executive Director, participated in a panel discussion at the 2016 Florida Active Kids summit. The event emphasized the importance of getting kids to walk more. Amanda Day provided insight on safety strategies for parents and kids when walking to school. Read more here.

National Bike Summit & Women’s Forum
Hosted by the League of American Bicyclists

March 9
2nd Annual Bike to Work Day
Hosted by Healthy Central Florida and the City of Winter Park
Over 130 people turned out for a group ride to celebrate Bike to Work Day in Winter Park on March 9. BWCF board member Jamie Krzeminski was featured in Healthy Central Florida’s website story about the event.

March 14
Waterford Lakes Pedestrian Safety Presentation
Best Foot Forward presented to parents and school staff from Waterford Elementary, Sunrise Elementary and Discovery Middle PTAs. Orange County staff heard parent and staff concerns about aggressive drivers near the schools and is working with Orange County Sheriff’s Office to increase enforcement in the morning hours.

UCF’s 2nd annual Bike Week
Hosted by the UCF Recreation & Wellness Center, UCF Student Union and Spokes Council
BWCF set up a booth in front of the UCF Student Union for most of the day to talk with students, faculty and staff and help celebrate the launch of UCF’s 2nd annual Bike Week.
