Congrats are in order to Lee County for its commitment to being a bike-friendly community. According to a recent report by the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization and BikeWalk Lee, bicycle infrastructure has increased by 18 percent with more than 130 lane miles since 2010. You can view the progress report on BikeWalk Lee’s blog.
Over the past four years, including local road improvements, Lee County has added a total of 153 miles of bike/ped facilities such as bike lanes, sidewalks, paved shoulders and shared paths
Small improvements have also made a huge impact. A great example is Cape Coral. Adding just 2.2 miles of bike lanes connected two bike paths that together now span a 17-mile biking loop.
Keep up the good work, Lee County!
