Our friends at WESH 2 News covered the story.
The improvements are part of a project being designed by the Florida Department of Transportation through the fall of 2023 and, at the time of this writing (fall 2022), is scheduled for construction in early 2024.
The project recommends pedestrian crossing enhancements such as raised crosswalks and raised intersections at carefully chosen locations along the corridor. Other proposed safety improvements include the addition of curb extensions and floating islands to shorten pedestrian crossing distances and to define existing on-street parking. These changes intend to enhance safety for both motorists and pedestrians by reducing travel speeds along the corridor

Proposed Changes
The project also proposes to convert the existing outside travel lanes into on-street parking from Magnolia Avenue to north of Ivanhoe Boulevard. This improvement will provide safer parking while maintaining acceptable traffic flow.
