When it comes to making our streets safer for people biking (and walking, too), Florida has a long way to go. The good news is that we are rolling in the right direction.
Recently, the League of American Bicyclists published a report all about Complete Streets. Florida (yes, Florida) was referenced several times in the report, including references to our Complete Streets policies, the road diet on Edgewater Drive, the Florida Bicycle Association’s campaign for Complete Streets and FDOT’s Design Manual released earlier this year that prioritizes the safety and accessibility of cyclists.
The road towards safer streets is a long one, but these smalls steps continue adding up to a big result: safer roads for those choosing to tackle them on two wheels.
