Fun on a budget: CFL activities that won’t break the bank

Are you looking for fun things to do in Central Florida, but also trying to stay on budget? Look no further – check out the following outdoor options, which keep spending to a minimum, help you get active and give you the chance to enjoy some of Florida’s great weather.

Get stepping:

  • The Orlando Farmers Market is free every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Lake Eola Park. Take a walk around the lake and enjoy the smells of the local vendors’ crepes, kettle corn and Cuban sandwiches.
  • Park Avenue in Winter Park is the perfect place to window shop. Stroll the walkable streets, stop and smell the roses in the Central Park Rose Garden and hit the Alfond Inn for the free, contemporary art featured on every floor of the hotel.

Central Florida contains beautiful state parks, which are accessed with a very small fee and offer the opportunity to see local wildlife. Here are a few options:

  • Head to Wekiwa Springs State Park to cool off in the river and kayak around alligators. The entry fee is only $6 per vehicle, so load up the car and head that way.
  • If you have a thing for gentle giants, check out Blue Spring State Park to see manatees and enjoy refreshing 72-degree water. Or, take a hike on the 4.5-mile Pine Island Trail.
  • At De Leon Springs State Park, history buffs can enjoy Civil-War aged artifacts, as well as a recreational swimming area.

Spin your wheels:

  • Juice and Lime both offer bike share options that allow you to see the city from two wheels. Each company has an app that shows you where you can get the closest bike.
