Take the City of Orlando’s Bike Study Survey

The City of Orlando created a website to engage the public in a “mindmixer” surrounding bike issues in the area. The website presents surveys and spaces to comment on topics such as, “Where would you like to see future trails constructed?” and “What is your favorite bike trail?” Users then share their ideas and connect with others on the website, while also posting outside on their social networks to help the project grow. The more users participate, the more reward points they earn—redeeming them for access to fun events and exclusive prizes, like an air boat tour of the Orlando Wetlands Park or a weather radio.

After an established period of time, community leaders review the ideas, give feedback and then implement the best ones. These community leaders include Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Chair of the Green Works Orlando Task Force Rich Crotty, and the Sustainability Director of the City of Orlando Jon Ippel.

Bike/Walk Central Florida is thrilled at the positive engagement the City of Orlando is creating with this initiative and urges you to contribute over the next three months. Please visit http://engage.cityoforlando.net/.
