A big thank you goes to Senator Andy Gardiner and the Senate’s transportation and economic development committee who recently approved $15.5 million for the Coast-to-Coast (C2C) connector. The money will help fill the gaps in the planned 275 miles of unbroken bicycle path stretching from St. Petersburg through Metro Orlando to the Canaveral Seashore.
Along with the $15.5 million, Sen. Andy Gardiner moved bill language directing DOT to use the funding for trail projects running through Orange and Seminole counties. The House has approved its version of the transportation budget but it doesn’t earmark dollars yet for the trail project. Last year, Governor Scott vetoed $50 million to fund the project, but he appears fully supportive this year.
