March is Florida Bike Month and what better way to celebrate than hosting a biking event, which is exactly what Healthy Central Florida (HCF) did. More than a hundred people donned in neon green “Bike to Work Day” t-shirts and equipped with their trusty helmets participated in the group ride through the scenic Park Avenue neighborhoods. The Winter Park Police Department and leaders from HCF were on hand to ensure the safety of all riders as they shared the road with the bustling afternoon traffic on Park Avenue and surrounding streets.
Rollins College, the City of Winter Park and many other local companies and organizations encouraged their employees to get moving and participate in the annual biking event. Some even made festive shirts and took advantage of the many photo opportunities. For those who did not have a bike of their own to ride, there was no need to fret. Juice Bikeshare joined in on the fun and brought bikes to share.
