Congratulations are in order for the Orlando Police Department (OPD) – they were just awarded a $46,000 grant from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to combat pedestrian and cyclist accidents here in Orlando.
According to Orlando Weekly, “the grant will fund efforts from Dec. 4 to May 15, 2018 to increase on-street education and enforcement measures focused on unsafe behavior from motorists, bike riders and pedestrians.”
As part of its “Alert Today” pedestrian and bicycle focused initiative, FDOT awards grants to law enforcement agencies that want to conduct “high visibility enforcement operations to create deterrence and change unlawful behaviors by all road users.”
Check out this great local coverage from Orlando Weekly and Central Florida News 13 regarding the OPD grant.
