BIKE 5 / Cycling Central Florida / People On Bikes

Are you experienced… on your bike? If so, we need you!

Are you an experienced bike rider?  Bike/Walk Central Florida (BWCF) needs you! BWCF is planning its 5th Annual Bike 5 Cities, Saturday, October 30, with ride leaders escorting small groups along the route. Your experience as a cyclist can help make the day an excellent adventure for all. Leaders and small groups will leave from the Bike 5 Cities host city location of their choice in 15-minute increments and roll at their own pace from city to city.

As an experienced cyclist, you can share your enthusiasm and knowledge with newer riders by volunteering as a ride leader/escort. You’ll encourage others who want to ride but don’t know where to find bike-friendly roads or don’t feel comfortable going alone. PLEASE LET US KNOW BY SEPTEMBER 1, IF YOU CAN HELP! Organizers need to know how many people we can safely register.

Even if you don’t know the Bike 5 Cities route, that’s no problem. We’ve scheduled several preview rides before the event, so you’ll know it as well as your favorite ride. An optional Florida Bicycle Association ride leader mini-training will also be offered for free.

Interested? Have questions? Or ready to sign on?  Email us at [email protected].  We’re happy to answer any questions and ready to roll with you!

Practice ride for Ride Leaders

Beginning in September, BWCF will do “practice” rides so ride leaders can preview the course at least once or more if preferred. BWCF will mark the 28-mile route with directional signs before October 30 and provide a Ride with GPS link to make it easier for all.

Can you roll with us?

Please let us know if you are willing and able to help encourage newer riders. Time slots for ride starts on October 30 are every 15 minutes from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in all five cities – listed below. Each City will have a rest stop with refreshments. Anticipate the ride taking up to 3.5 hours including stops.

Host Cities (Start locations and rest stops):

  • Winter Park – Mead Garden
  • Eatonville – Town Hall
  • Maitland – Maitland Community Park
  • Casselberry – Wirz Park
  • Orlando – Lake Druid Park
