Dual Shared Use Paths Headed to Simpson Road in Osceola County!

Phase 3 Map of the Simpson Road Improvement Project in Osceola County

Exciting news for Osceola County walkers, bikers, and rollers! Phase 3 of the Simpson Road Improvement Project will transform a 1.13-mile stretch from Fortune Road south to US 192. The project is gearing up for construction with contractor bids due March 14, 2023, and includes a 10-foot shared-use path for bicycles and pedestrians on each side of the roadway.

With a proposed construction timeline of approximately two years, Osceola County could complete the construction project as early as mid-2025.

The best part? The Simpson Road Improvement Project will connect existing and proposed trails (interactive map), making it easier for Osceola county residents to get outside and active. The Irlo Bronson Memorial Trail is being planned at the southern end of the project. Continuing southwest, the Cross Prairie Parkway Trail already connects to the Neptune Road Trail. To the north, the Neptune Road Trail connects to Downtown Kissimmee and the Kissimmee Lakeshore Trail. To the south, the Neptune Road Trail will also connect to Downtown Saint Cloud via the proposed Kissimmee St. Cloud Connector Trail and Lakeshore Blvd Trail.

This project is part of a larger four-segment, four-mile improvement project on Simpson Road and was developed with capacity and safety in mind, focusing on improving connections to the city of Kissimmee, Orlando International Airport, and the emerging NeoCity and Medical City technology clusters. In the previous phase, the Project Development and Environment Study (PD&E), the county presented alternatives at a Public Workshop and a Preferred Alternative at a Public Hearing.
