BWCF Advisory Committees

At Bike/Walk Central Florida, we are on a mission to transform Central Florida into a premiere biking and walking community. We envision a region where walking, biking, and rolling are safe, enjoyable, and convenient options for everyone.

We invite you to participate in this transformative movement by joining our organization as an expert and/or passionate advocate to help support Bike/Walk Central Florida in its efforts to achieve our vision and mission!

About the Advocacy Committee

Our Advocacy Committee comprises passionate individuals who drive positive change through advocacy initiatives. We work tirelessly to influence policies, shape public opinion, and champion the causes at the heart of our organization’s mission.

By joining the Advocacy Committee, you will have the opportunity to participate in strategic decision-making actively, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and amplify our voice for a greater impact.

The Advocacy Committee presently meets virtually every third Tuesday at noon.

About the Technical Advisory Committee

Our Technical Advisory Committee is a collective of experienced and knowledgeable individuals who provide valuable guidance and insight into the planning, design, and implementation of active transportation infrastructure.

By sharing your technical expertise on our Technical Advisory Committee, we can make a more compelling case when reviewing plans, assessing feasibility, or offering recommendations for improvements to our government and private-sector partners. We welcome all expertise that ensures our initiatives are well-informed, practical, and impactful!

Our Technical Advisory Committee also plays an integral role in our annual Wheel of Achievement Awards event, evaluating nominations and selecting the award winners.

The Technical Advisory Committee meets virtually every other Third Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

About the Development Committee

The Development Committee raises awareness, generates support, and secures resources to propel our initiatives forward. The committee provides feedback, suggestions, and support for developing new programming, new event opportunities, and organizations to partner with to achieve these goals. The committee will help staff identify target audiences for new programming and events and provide feedback on marketing strategies for outreach efforts. By leveraging their expertise, we can amplify our message, share inspiring stories, and raise awareness about the benefits of bicycling and walking, engaging a broader audience in our cause.

Our diverse group contributes their skills, ideas, and time to support our new programming and campaigns, assist in event planning, and explore creative fundraising initiatives to help us advance our mission! We would love to have you join us in these efforts.

SHAPE THE FUTURE

By becoming a committee member, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation in our region. Together, we can create an equitable transportation system that prioritizes the needs of pedestrians and cyclists, making our communities safer, healthier, greener, and more livable for people of all ages and abilities.

ADVOCATE FOR CHANGE

As a committee member, you will have a platform to advocate for policies and infrastructure improvements that promote active modes of transportation. By actively engaging with community leaders, decision-makers, and fellow Committee and BWCF Board members, you can help influence local and regional initiatives, making a lasting impact on our transportation landscape.

BUILD A SAFER ENVIRONMENT

Safety is at the core of our mission. Serving on a committee, you will contribute to creating safer streets and pathways for all. Through education, awareness campaigns, and collaborative efforts, we can prevent crashes, encourage responsible behaviors, and ensure everyone feels safe regardless of how they get around our community.

FOSTER COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS

Our organization is built on the strength of our community. As a committee member, you can connect with like-minded individuals, passionate advocates, and local leaders who share your vision for a walkable, bikeable, and rollable Central Florida. Committee members participate in events, workshops, and volunteer activities that bring us together to make a real difference.
