New Year, New Leadership: Meet Bike/Walk Central Florida’s 2024 Board Officers

The Board of Directors gathered at the Annual Meeting in November 2023.

Bike/Walk Central Florida ushered in the new year by appointing a new slate of officers to its Board of Directors. At the organization’s annual board meeting on December 5, 2023, the Board of Directors undertook a formal selection process to fill key leadership positions, bidding farewell to the outgoing Chair and Vice Chair (further details on their accomplishments are slated for an upcoming publication).

Amongst the appointed officers this year is Christy Lofye, P.E., RSP1, who will serve as the Secretary. Christy brings four years of dedicated service to the role, having been pivotal in establishing the prestigious Wheel of Achievement Awards initiative. Christy participates in numerous events and initiatives, including her involvement as a decoy in the Best Foot Forward for Pedestrian Safety enforcement campaigns.

Doug Crenshaw, MAOL, PGA, assumes the role of Treasurer, bringing with him a wealth of experience in championing youth bicycle education and promoting safe infrastructure within his community. Notwithstanding his new venture with Bike/Walk Central Florida, Doug has already showcased notable success by implementing the “All Kids Bike” program at Wekiva Elementary. He plans to expand these efforts across the region.

The newly appointed Vice Chair, Tina Valeri has been an unwavering advocate for advancing educational and safety initiatives within her community. Leveraging over two decades of experience in Workforce Planning and Intelligence at Lockheed Martin, Tina seamlessly brings her dedication to community well-being to her role with Bike/Walk Central Florida, steering the organization toward sustainable growth and heightened competitiveness.

Noteworthy among the newly elected officers is Kelly Brock, Ph.D., P.E., LEED AP, ENV SP, the Board Chair of Bike/Walk Central Florida. Renowned for his steadfast advocacy for pedestrian and cyclist safety, Dr. Brock reflects his commitment to championing safety-centric projects within the City of Casselberry. His prioritization of safety over speed has earned him accolades, including the prestigious 2023 Complete Street Changemaker Title bestowed by Smart Growth America. Having served on the Board of Directors for the past four years, Kelly is keenly poised to continue his support of the organization’s growth trajectory, embodying a steadfast commitment to fostering a safe and sustainable community environment.

As we embark on this new chapter with our dedicated and esteemed Board of Directors, we are excited to continue our mission of creating safer, healthier, and more accessible streets for all. We look forward to an inspiring year of progress and growth!
