If you weren’t one of the 600,000+ people who heard about Operation Best Foot Forward earlier this week, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. On Wednesday, August 15, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), the Kissimmee Police Department (KPD) and the St. Cloud Police Department (SCPD) visited five crosswalks across the county for a crosswalk crackdown called Operation Best Foot Forward (check out the press release here). Officers and deputies at those locations gave out warnings and citations for drivers failing to stop for people crossing the street in a crosswalk – 64 total, to be exact.
Law enforcement officials weren’t the only BFFs in attendance. From the City of Kissimmee, Commissioner Jim Fisher and Public Affairs Officer Melissa Zayas-Moreno visited crosswalks to see Operation BFF live in action and talk to reporters about the importance of stopping. Osceola County Commissioner Cheryl Grieb also joined at W. Donegan Ave. and Coral Ave., promoting safety via her Facebook live video and by speaking with News 13 Traffic Reporter, Ryan Harper.
