Orlando Commits to Safety

The City of Orlando is working hard to make the City Beautiful more comfortable for people walking. Late last year, the city committed to Vision Zero: a goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2040.  With this goal in mind, they are taking steps to boost walkability and enhance transportation for people who want to ditch their cars and embrace other options.

The city recently approved a measure to learn more about what they can do to make Downtown Orlando safer for people walking. Thanks to a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation, the City has hired an outside company to identify where improvements can be made. You can look forward to seeing changes like upgraded crosswalks, reconstructed curb ramps and optimized signal timing.

Thank you to the City of Orlando for taking these steps to make our streets safer for vulnerable road users. Keep putting your best foot forward!
