Ride with Larry: Orlando Film Festival’s Most Inspirational

ride with larryIf you are going to support a film about the power of cycling, then check out Ride with Larry. The story of Larry Smith, a police captain forced to retire when diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s at age 40, won the Most Inspirational award at the Orlando Film Festival.

After retiring from his position as a police captain, Larry opened a bakery where his bread was called “Best Bread in America” by Oprah in 2002. Parkinson’s eventually forced him to switch to a recumbent bike to ride to work, and he decided to challenge himself by riding 300 miles across his home state of South Dakota in 2011. Larry’s recumbent Catrike bike was built in Orlando at the factory off Princeton Street. For more details on this inspirational story check out the trailer.
