Vision 2040: trying to get community to talk about pedestrian safety, engagement, connectivity

blueprintThe Long Range Transportation Plan for the year 2040 is currently being drafted by MetroPlan Orlando, the metropolitan transportation planning organization for Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. The plan will include considerations for better bike and pedestrian safety measures, including narrowing roads and connecting bike trails.

“The LRTP is one of the most important things we produce at MetroPlan Orlando because it sets the long-term vision for the region,” said Cynthia Lambert, Public Information Manager at MetroPlan Orlando. “Our ultimate goal for the year 2040 is to create a transportation system that provides connections and travel options. Every transportation system user is important to us, including bicyclists and pedestrians.”

Before the plan goes to the board for approval, a public hearing is scheduled for June 4 at LYNX Central Station. During this time participants will be able to talk one-on-one with experts about the main elements of the plan and voice their final opinions before approval on June 11. Partners of BWCF are encouraged to attend the June 4 hearing so our efforts will be considered in this long range plan.
