Routes & Maps
We would like to create a community resource for biking, walking and running routes. Below are a few resources that can help you plan your route.
City of Orlando
Bike Trail Map – Click Bicycles and Pedestrians on the drop-down menu on the right and get access to updated maps of Cady Way Trail, Lake Underhill Path, Orlando Southeast Trail, Orlando Urban Trail, and the Shingle Creek Trail.
These maps show metro area bike paths as well as which roads have bike lanes, shoulders, wide curb lanes, high and low traffic volumes.
Winter Park Health Foundation Fun & Fitness Map
This map shows bike facilities and some popular walking, running and biking routes in and around Winter Park. You can pick one up at the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center.
CommuteOrlando offers route planning advice for transportation cyclists. The blog features routes to destinations and other route planning topics. Personalized route planning assistance is free for the asking through the mentor program.
A route-planner’s best friend is Google Maps satellite and street views. The new feature for directions by bike also highlights many of the area’s trails (it also lists a number of unimproved sidewalks as trails, so beware). The satellite view can be useful for finding features like traffic lights to cross major roads, determining if a road is surfaced with asphalt, brick or dirt or if the road has bike lanes. Streetview can help you identify landmarks along your route.
