24 ped devices in Orange County

ped devices in Orange County at Evans High School on Silver Star 1Come August, crosswalks in Orange County will see more pedestrian safety devices. Orange County’s Traffic Engineering Department will install 24 new pedestrian devices throughout the county.

This comes after the county already installed more than 20 devices last year – along some important roads like Pine Hills Road and on Silver Star Road, near Evans High School, where students, parents and faculty asked for signs.

Some of the devices, electronic feedback signs, flash the motorists’ speed at 5 mph over the posted speed limit and then flashes a “Slow Down” message over that speed. We hope drivers get the message and become more aware of people walking, especially the kids who are on summer break.
