Volunteer Opportunities

It is that time of year to get ready for our 7th Annual Bike 5 Event, Bike/Walk Central Florida’s signature biking event on October 14th. Bike 5 helps to build interest in bicycling in our region, provides an opportunity to get to know other local people interested in biking, and supports our non-profit advocacy efforts. With volunteer support this event has grown, and we hope it continues to grow!  We would love for you to participate as a city stop volunteer and help make the day an excellent adventure for all.

There are three shifts available (6:30am-9:30am; 9:00am-12:00pm; 12:00pm-3:00pm), if you cannot stay for the entire duration of the event. We anticipate the day ending no later than 3pm but does depend on the pace of the riders for the day.

There are several roles for our volunteers from check-in, registration, signage, Bike 5 Miles, Bike 5 Parks, and more. Below is a high-level overview of what to expect for the day:

  • Attend a volunteer meeting as we get closer to the event
  • First shift volunteers arrive to your city stop and assist BWCF with tables, chairs, tents
  • Assist with check-in, help answer questions, introduce riders to their group, point out restrooms, take photos etc.
  • Provide snacks and water as riders arrive at stops
  • Assist ride leaders with the gathering of their groups
  • Assist with clean up
  • Additional volunteer tasks as they arise

If you would like to volunteer, please let us know as soon as possible! If you have a city and/or shift preference, please let us know that as well.  If you are flexible, that’s great too!

  • Orlando – Lake Druid
  • Winter Park – Mead Gardens
  • Eatonville – Town Hill
  • Maitland – Maitland Community Park
  • Casselberry – Kewannee Park
  • Winter Park – Cady Way Pool Trailhead (5-mile and 11-mile family friendly rides)

If you want to both ride and volunteer, we do have options available so feel free to reach out and let us know!
We are forever grateful for the time you are willing to provide, as this event would not be successful without you.
