Pedalpalooza in the Ivanhood

unnamed-3What’s the best way to spend a Saturday morning in the city beautiful? A six-mile bike ride with pancakes at the finish line sounds like a great idea. BWCF headed to Ivanhoe Village, AKA the Ivanhood, for their Pedalpalooza celebration to raise funds for some new bike racks. The group met up at Retro City Cycles, where they received a free bike safety check up and some bike and pedestrian safety information from BWCF and Best Foot Forward. Then, participants took a ride that ended at the Hammered Lamb for a delicious pancake breakfast.

One bicyclist from Ohio mentioned that she loved riding her bike but hasn’t felt comfortable doing it here in Orlando. Adjusting to a new large city can be nerve-wracking, so BWCF suggested that she look into a CyclingSavvy course to learn more about safely biking in Orlando. Central Florida also offers plenty of local trails to ride, such as the West Orange Trail or the Cady Way.

Special thanks to Mindi Rackliff, the executive director of Ivanhoe Village Main Street, for inviting BWCF to the event. It is always great to see the community get together and experience the city on two wheels. Thank you for working to add additional parking for our biking friends.
